Why Rivercity?
why is it that no one in this school does any thing. all any one does is go on hypster or pandora radio, get bored and wander around until lunch. then we come back and talk the afternoon away. we then proceed to wait until the last minute and do a project in an hour and a half on drugs and say "i learned a lot from this". how can any one learn anything in our current environment. this is not the rantings of a hypocritical a-hole, this is a call to action. we all including myself need to stop bitching and moaning about how bad this school is, when its our own fault. its near impossible for any one of us to get our work done with out support from our peers. there are a very few students in this school that would like to do nothing all day. one person cant just decide to do work, we all have to decide, for this school to work. THIS IS NOT ANY ONES SCHOOL BUT OURS. please realize this and lets fix all this. give me all the crap you want for this but every one of us knows it's true.

sorry i do not mean every one but more than half the school.
Theres other things then not just doing there work too. It bugs me sitting next to the microwave having people come in and out NOT AT LUNCH making food. Thats why we have lunch so we can make our food. Popcorn is one thing but frozen dinners and pizza pockets are another. The other thing that ticks me off is the noise. There's music being played with out head phones, and people on phones when advisors are out of the rooms. Then theres the language, it's quite sad that literally if you taped the conversations in the rooms and rated it by standerds it would proubly be rated R! THATS SICK we're part of a preschool. i hope i'm not the only one that see this.

I too have grown disappointed in the wavering work ethic of my peers. I also fully agree with Melissa on the topic of earphones, although I have noted an increase in times when their earphones are plugged in and I can still hear strains of faint hip-hop over my own tunes.
Kyle I thank you for saying this. I know that i few of us are thinking about leaving the school because of this problem. Honestly, I hate to say it but with the way RiverCity is now, I dont know if we are a school that will be benfical to our students....So the question is now how are we going to fix this?
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a perfect example of how we need to act in school, but I agree with Kyle. I think there definitely needs to be a change. We can't sit here and keep doing what we're doing and expect to finish high school in four years. I think come conferences this quarter, maybe we'll all start to realize exactly how much work is not being done around here. And as Melissa has pointed out, it's not just productivity that needs to be addressed. Our environment needs to be dramatically changed. We have a lot of respect issues in our school too.

The founding principles of our school. The question is, why is this all missing?
We need to re-examine the way our school functions. I think the best solution would be to get leadership and respect back on track. With that all else will follow.

Brandanna and Kyle are right, we need to change and we need a meeting.
I think this is all good, but is this really going to be solved? I want it to, but based on everything else I've seen I don't think so. As Ned says, rigor is important, but it's a rarity here. However, I also admit to hardly doing anything.
I would like to say, "Good job," to Paul (5 projects!) and anyone else who has been rigorous with projects or DLC.
also instead of sitting and complaining about how mean the advisors are and why your life is so bad, you should look at the reasons why the advisor is acting the way they do. all behavior is purposeful. if you feel like you are being treated unfairly then you should take a step back and listen to what the advisors are saying. half of the things that you say are BS are legitimate concerns, so instead of bitching either get your sh*t together or get out.
Only 9 people have posted on this blog what a disappointment.

A school meeting is unnecessary...
Appreciate your education and embrace your ability to learn. You will thrive only if you wish to do so.
I also don't think that future Rivercity students will work hard either. It seems that kids who are interested in our school are interested because it will be easy to get by doing nothing and you can socialize all day. I'm not saying all of them are, just some. The school government just has to be more strict in the students they accept. Not overly strict, of course, just strict enough to make sure the students applying won't be a total waste of space and a distraction to the other students.

When you said "behave of the government," did you mean behavior of the government? I was talking about the work ethic and behavior of new students coming into the school, not the behavior or size of the student government.
I think it's fine to have more students in the school, just not the students who waste time and distract others.
I like guns.
Secondly, Foss you have typed clearly all the thoughts I would have wanted to put here. I don't think I should really repeat anything except the positive notes, -like the people who actually accomplished things, (Grats paul, and the other hard workers, or at least people who tried.)-
