So for our first school post the topic is waterboarding.

Alright so as the new leader of the Rivercity Super Blog I would like to start off with a all school prompt. The question I wish for you to blog about is the topic of Waterboarding. So now I will explain what waterboarding is.

Waterboarding: A form of torture used by the CIA for high risk prisoners of war who have openly/through other forms of torture informed the CIA they are terrorists planning on disrupting peace in the middle east. The CIA uses waterboarding to gain more information on proposed plans of terror so that the CIA can prevent the attack from striking and possably taking more lives in the middle east.
Now to waterboard somone is to place a peace of vinal cloth over ones mouth and slowly pour water in over the cloth...this forces a gag reflex that makes the tortured feel like they are drowning and ultimatly forcing them to break and pour information to the CIA.

The question that I wish for you to post is. What are your views on Waterboarding and should the United States use any form of torture to gain information?
Please post by the end of the day.

My views on waterboarding are the same as my views on all torture, which boils down to 'whatever is best for the greater good is fine by me.' The United States of America should use any means nessessary.

I agree with DJ Scythe for even though tourture is evil. we are not killing anyone in this case..not to say that torture never leads to death. yet even though this may sound equally evil, what is one life to save 10 or hundreds or thousands. think of a situation of nuculare war...woudl you truly complain that we are waterboarding somene if it prevented a bomb to go off somewhere in the middle of america killing millions? no i dont beleve you would.

I feel to a degree that united states should be alowed to torture. but to a limet. to be able to toture they wuold have to have a vialble reason to. they would also have to present what the case and reason for toture. the other side of not being able to toture is if they just want to toture because he said she said. as long as they know that the person knows someone and they dont talk yes they should be forced as long as it helps stop the violence.

My out look on torture/waterboarding is iffy because in some case's torture is nessary IN SOME CASE'S and torture does not kill which is good also but the torture part is a bit barbaric...

we'll, i think that some forms of torture are absolutely neccessary when there is proof of criminal activity, but never otherwise. personal hate is no reason to make somebody suffer. besides that i think that water boarding is one of the best and most effective forms of torture.

Waterboarding is OK. If you have guys that are trying to blow people up with car bombs than I think it is a good none harming way to gather information.
